All the Grade 5’s participated in our mini Olympic day. We were in teams representing participating countries. We had to research some facts about our country and present it to the group. We all chose various fun activities to participate in. Gold,Silver and Bronze medals were awarded to successful competitors and we marched in teams at our Closing Ceremony. We had great fun and a great day.

It is great to see everyone back safe and sound after a restful holiday. Many of us had interesting holidays. We laughed and listened to everyone’s holiday exploits this morning. Students travelled far and wide during the holidays and enjoyed all they did. We have a busy term ahead of us with Parent/Teacher interviews and Athletic sports coming up. Those students involved in Musical rehearsals also have a busy term ahead of them. Our major focus this term is GOLD. After that we will be looking forward to our Melbourne Excursion at the end of the term. Have a great term.

We have come to the end of a very busy semester. Our students have worked very hard during a very long term. Many have participated in sporting events and acquitted themselves very well. congratulations to you all. Our Friday inter-school sport enabled us to play against other schools and catch up with friends from there and also make new friends who we will meet again in Secondary school.
Our class also completed an excellent array of projects on our Explorer’s theme. Thanks to all the parents and siblings who helped with these. Our class presented them confidently to us. Did you know that Matthew Flinder’s cat Trim travelled everywhere with him?
Enjoy the holidays and I look forward to seeing you all next term when we will welcome a student teacher Miss Sarah Wilkie into our class for three weeks. It is a priviledge to have a teacher in our class.

I am very pleased with the effort and time students are putting into planning their Explorer projects. I have seen quite a few rough drafts and plans. People are working well at home. Some early birds have handed in their projects already and they have set very high benchmarks. Congratultions. We look forward to seeing them all by the due date - Friday 13th June.

Over the last couple of weeks the class have been researching information and producing their information in Powerpoint presentations. This afternoon we viewed them. They are fantastic and everyone should be very proud of their work. It also provided the opportunity for students to act as mentors and help their class mates. Congratulations to all of you.

Mr Harvey Champness came to our class to tell us about our water. He was from Wimmera Catchment Authority. It was very good to find out how salty our water was. My water was not as salty as most of the other people. Mine was 1310. Ami had brought some water from Quantong and it was very salty,it was 3900. Olivia brought her sample from Lower Norton. Her water was the second highest it was 2800. We all watched a DVD called Fresh and Salty. I can’t wait to see how much salt is in everyones’ samples. It will be very interesting!
